«Todos los veranos ha habido atascos y los seguirá habiendo», afirma el concejal de Movilidad Aurelio Martín
El concejal de Medio Ambiente y Movilidad en el Ayuntamiento de Gijón, Aurelio Martín, ha recomendado no utilizar el coche para evitar los atascos que tradicionalmente se producen durante el verano en la ciudad por la mayor afluencia de gente. «Todos los veranos ha habido atascos y los seguirá habiendo, por las condiciones del entorno, la climatología y la mayor afluencia de gente no solo de Gijón sino también de otros sitios», ha afirmado el edil.
Martín ha considerado que los días en que sea previsible una mayor afluencia de gente a las playas «quizás el coche no sea la mejor opción» y otros sistemas de movilidad sostenible «pueden ser incluso más rápidos». El concejal ha considerado previsible que este verano se produzca una concentración importante de personas en Gijón a pesar de la pandemia de la COVID-19, porque se están viendo algunos datos como las reservas de hoteles que en algunos casos son del 80 por ciento.
Ha anunciado que el gobierno local va a «gestionar los atascos» de vehículos y va a fomentar el uso del transporte público y otros medios de movilidad «más sostenible» para los desplazamientos. Ha admitido que «un punto conflictivo» en el tráfico es la confluencia del paseo marítimo de San Lorenzo con la avenida de Castilla por la cantidad de vehículos que llegan desde Somió.Martín ha anunciado que se está estudiando la posibilidad de habilitar dos carriles de ida y vuelta en la avenida del doctor Fleming. El edil ha dicho que está esperando los resultados de un estudio de viabilidad que probablemente estará finalizado para septiembre próximo.
